Sugarthief at The Waiting Room

A small and intimate gig really highlighted this emerging bands talent as one of the up and coming bands of the year.

I heard Sugarthief a few months ago and instantly fell in love with their sound, reminding me of the indie rock I used to love as a young teenager – a warm sense of nostalgia and happiness.

So far, they’ve only released four songs, with ‘New Ends’ being my favourite. They’re set to release new music later this year and I’m excited to see what’s to come as I can only see a positive reaction coming out of their journey!

Sugarthief are definitely one to watch in my opinion so check out their music on spotify and soundcloud.

Demon Dayz Festival

Demon Dayz Festival took place in Margate on Saturday 10th June. It was an incredible once in a lifetime experience to immerse myself in everything Gorillaz and watch artists, which had collaborated with them on their newest album ‘Humanz’, all throughout the day.

It was interesting to compare this festival, which around 15,000 people attended, with their much more intimate O2 Brixton Academy gig on Thursday. Personally, I prefered the Brixton concert as I felt much closer to the band and it felt so special to be in a room filled with Gorillaz fans all singing and dancing to their songs. However, in saying that, the festival had a great atmosphere as the sun was shining, people were happy and was contstantly buzzing with people.

What a show. What a night.

Its crazy to think the tickets were released a week before the gig and they completely sold out in the presale.

I was lucky enough to get tickets to attend this and watch Damon Albarn and special guests come up on stage to perform a huge 26 song set list ranging from their newest songs from ‘Humanz’ (including some unreleased songs which I especially loved) and fan favourites, such as Dirty Harry, Feel Good Inc. and Demon Dayz.
