Berry Smoothie Bowls

Berry Smoothie Bowls | Add A Little

Who doesn’t love a delicious smoothie to start the day? I find it such a perfect breakfast as it’s so easy to put a good chunk of your 5-a-day into your morning and it makes you feel amazing!

Berry Smoothie Bowls | Add A Little

I love adding oats to my smoothie as I find it makes them so much more filling as I tend to get hungry an hour after having just a plain smoothie. They also make the smoothie super creamy and rich as an added bonus!

I’ve chosen to serve it in a bowl here as I think it’s so fun to put toppings on and make it look beautiful, but if it’s just an average morning I’ll just put it in a bottle good to go.

Berry Smoothie Bowls vegan, dairy free, gluten free
Serves 2

This smoothie bowl is such an easy and fun breakfast. Feel free to change up the fruits to make a different flavour as this recipe serves as a guideline. I like adding some greens, although the colour isn’t as appealing as it goes slightly brown! Adding oats and nut butter makes the smoothie much more filling so if your looking to have it as a meal, I would recommend adding these.

1 ripe banana (frozen if possible)
1 cup blueberries (strawberries also work well here)
Handful of oats
1-1.5 cups milk (I use almond or oat)
Optional: superfoods such as chia/ flaxseeds, nut butter, spinach/kale
Toppings: shredded coconut, banana, superfoods, granola or muesli

If using, blend the oats into a fine powder.

Add the banana, blueberries, 1 cup of milk and any optional ingredients.

Blend until smooth. If it’s too thick, add more milk or water until the perfect consistency.

Serve immediately or leave in the fridge until ready to serve.

BlendCo Skin Mix Review

BlendCo Skin Mix review | Add A Little

So I recently got to try out BlendCo’s Skin Mix and I’m so glad I did!

This product is so awesome! The company believes, just like me, in taking care of yourself from the inside and if you do, you will glow from the outside.

First things first, this tastes AMAZING (yes, cap locks and bold is definitely necessary) – the first thing I did when I received the package was open it up and eat it with a spoon. It literally tastes of coconut-ty sweet heave, with a hint of saltiness thanks to the himalayan salt (and I looooove anything sweet’n’salty).
I’m not really a fan of sweets or anything that tastes unnatural, but this has all organic, natural ingredients that balance each other perfectly!
It’s perfect on oatmeal, smoothies, yoghurt, fruit salads, chocolate – seriously it’s just an amazing flavour enhancer! Recipes will be up soon, so make sure to check back 🙂

Secondly, and probably more importantly, this stuff is so good for you (so practically guilt free)! Only filled with 6 ingredients and all super foods that will make you glow (no nasties)! As you can tell from the name, it’s great for skin.
It contains 6 organic super foods, which I’ve listed below.

Coconut helps absorb omega 3 and aids in crating collagen.
Pumpkin seeds are rich in many minerals and work with coconut for healthy skin
Cacao nibs protect skin from free radicals and prevent blood sugar spikes and increase seratonin.
Raspberry aid in digestion and circulation.
Acai protect from free radicals aswell and help fight signs on ageing.
Himalayan salt contains 84 (!!) minerals found in your body and balances electrolytes

Now thats what I call a superfood blend!

I would highly recommend checking them out as I really do believe it’s worth the money (I wish I could let you guys all taste how good it is!) and there’s free shipping worldwise – BONUS.

ps. Their website is fab too – they have loads of great tips for skin and some great recipes to try out.

Would you believe me if I told you this delicious, hearty warm bowl of oatmeal is gluten free, dairy free, sugar free AND packed with super foods?!

If you’ve been reading my How To Eat Healthily During Exams series, found here, here, here and here, you may have seen the banana bread oatmeal recipe, so I thought I’d do a post on it! This breakfast is just a superhero – Its so delicious and is so good for you! The chia seeds are packed with protein and fibre so keep you feeling full for ages and you can easily get a portion of fruit into it.

I also filmed a video here:

Banana Bread Oatmeal vegan, gluten free and dairy free
Serves 1

1/2 Banana
Oats (not the microwaveable kind)
1 tablespoon chia seeds (I use milled chia seeds from Linwoods)
Cinnamon, to taste
A few chopped up pecans and/or walnuts
Liquid of your choice, I used water, but feel free to use any milk
note: feel free to use any sweetener, but I feel its sweet enough if I use a ripe banana.

Put oats in a sauce pan with water just covering it and leave it for 10-15 minutes with a lid on so it soaks up the liquid.

While this is happening, mash 1/4 of the banana and slice the other quarter into slices.

One the oats have soaked up the liquid, put in the cinnamon, mashed banana and chia seeds.

Cook on low for about 5 minutes until chia seeds soak up the water and the oatmeal increases in volume.

Once it is done, serve it up in a bowl and top with banana slices and nuts.
Add any sweetener if liked.
